I replied to the private email you sent me. Unfortunately I don't think my response fits nicely in these forums here so let's take it into a private email conversation now to save any arguments.

I would be a fan of removing it so that way it doesn't spend a lot of time retrieving all of the moderators. I have a couple test forums where everyone is a moderator and there are 5000 users and it takes a LONG time to load that main page where it shows them. I was going to rip it out myself, but if you want to make it an option to not even bother rendering or reading from the DB, i would like that much better, but I agree that it isnt a huge issue.
Thanks!

This is NOT a simple answer. I highly suggest you grab 1.9.3 to start with. It uses the membership provider model and will make life a lot easier to start with. I am not sure what you want to "integrate" with sharepoint either. Are you just trying to use the users (the AD users not really sharepoint users) or the groups or lists of sharepoint? Do you want to convert YAF to be webparts that can be used in sharepoint? There are so many ways to go with this.
The other reason I am asking so many questions is that I plan on doing something very similar as a project for next year. I am first working on adding some things to YAF that I need (category moderator and switching over to AD for authentication), but after that I plan on switching YAF to be a bunch of different webparts so that we can plug and unplug what you need in sharepoint.
Let me know what you are trying to do and i will see if i can help

I had the identity column issue before. The way to fix that is when you do an export/import, DO NOT optimize for many tables and make sure you Edit Mappings and check the Enable Identity checkbox. The Optimize for many tables option overrides the identity checkbox and will NOT keep the identity field.
Hope that helps

I am not sure exactly sure how or why this is happening but i can reproduce it on your board (which is now 1.9.3 alpha). I get on the board. Check to see what is new (by using the icons as a sign only). I drill down to the exact topic that is new and read it. For example, I just went to the 1.9.3 announcement where Jaben said that he is on vacation next week. After that I click back on to "YAF Forum Discussions" in the breadcrumb trail at the top. It shows that there are still unread messages (even though there aren't). It becomes weird because if i click "YAF Forum Discussions" breadcrumb link again (even though that's the page i am a get all the icons changed to read. If i click again, they go back to unread. I am not sure how this is happening, but I am not crazy and to prove it, I am attaching 2 screen shots. These are back to back clicks and you can tell because of the Last Post column. I could keep doing it over and over and it will keep going back and forth and not quit.
UPDATE: Guess I can't attach files ??

I thought it was just me and i have been trying to work with it to see what i have been doing wrong. Maybe it's not me this time. I am not convinced my issue is the apha version though since i have been playing with the dev version for a while now. I may have something very confused in the aspnet membership DB stuff since i had a version running in dev. I will keep playing with it and let you know what i find out.

This would require active directory integration. I have seen some examples of people doing it on here, but I don't think it's very pretty. I am waiting on 1.9.3 to get the membership providers to be able to write a custom one and get the AD integration for authentication and then use the DB for the authorization portion.

I am not sure I know what you are asking/talking about here. This forum is running under forum.yetanotherforum.net and I am running it as forums.mycompany.com without anything different. It was just an IIS setting change to only allow traffic for it.
