I wasn't certain where to post this as it isn't a bug, more a consequence of the general structure of the databaseConfused .

I am trying to publish the database created on my development box to our web server. Unfortunately I have run into the following problem:-

Quote:

TITLE: SqlPubWiz

The selected database contains foreign keys that create a cycle. Publishing data only is not supported for databases with cyclical foreign key relationships.

Short of dropping all the foreign keys, exporting the data, and then re-creating the keys, can anyone suggest another way I can publish the data?

Kind regards

Ian

Can you simply not create a backup then restore to the server, overwriting the old DB?

Thanks for the reply.

I could have dropped the database, but as work had been done modifying the store procedures I just wanted to upload the data; something my original post did not make clear - sorry. I could still export a script of the store procedures, drop the database, restore a backup from the other server, and then re-apply the SP script.

Assuming I am not been a plonker and there is not simple way of doing this I will use the modified restore method as you suggest.

Kind regards

Thats exactly what I would do.

"It's a case of RTFM.. the only problem being we don't have a manual!"

When I post FP:Mek in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Ederon Smile )

The instance of SQL on the web server is not recognising the backup file produced on the dev server when I try and restore it. My lack of knowledge about SQL Maintenance is showingEmbarassed
