1st - people couldnt register cause there was no email being sent to verify their account. Now thats more then likely my fault cause i dont think i set up the email.

2nd - A while ago 2 days worth of posts on the forum all of a sudden dissapeared. Havent had any trouble with this since but would like to know where they went!!

3rd - I have a topic which is a poll which i cant delete. It gives me an error "There has been a serious error loading the forum. No futher information is available.

Please contact the administrator if this message persists. "

I tried to delete from the actual database and still wont let me delete it!!

4th - a number of my members all of a sudden have lost ALOT of posts and some of them even have negitive amounts like -29 posts!!!

I have searched these forums for help and have solved a few other issues from the help here but cant figure these out! Please help with all of them cause im sure im loosing alot of members because of the amount of trouble i am having with the forum.

#1) please check your email settings. you should be able to search for it, too. You need to provide much more information, for example your hosting provider (godaddy and all reseller have serveral issues. look around). Also we need the yaf version # you use. also if you are using dnn or rainbow, ...

#2) old posts are hidden by default. you can disable it for your complete forum in the administration or below each page if you set "show threads" to all (or any, dont know the correct english translation)

#3) see here

#4) no idea yet

the 2nd: ok, I don't know that the posts aren't so old to be excluded. Sorry for that, but this question will be asked serveral times (where posts be "lost" that are older than x months) Smile

I don't know anything about godaddy, except there are some problems with this hosting provider. Hope anyone else can help you on the other problems

You may want to upgrade to the ver 1.9.1.8 as the .7 ver godaddy installs does not have all the fixes put into ver.8

4) Sounds like you've got an access mask wrong and members or guests can delete other posts resulting in your negavtive count.

Also a thing to be aware of is to make sure that the little drop down box on the bottom left of the topics page says Show Topics says All! Which is a common first time user mistake.

Welcome to YAF btw, hope your forum is successful Smile

"It's a case of RTFM.. the only problem being we don't have a manual!"

When I post FP:Mek in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Ederon Smile )

That was the first thing i thought off when i saw the posts missing so i checked the access masks and i think that was the problem that the user deleted the posts. I have since re-done the access masks and havent had this problem since.

Thanks for the reply. Nice to know what my prob was. And thanks for good wishes. YAF so far is very good. Thanks for all your work with it
