Dear all,

We are running a YAF forum within DotNetNuke (www.code-music.nl -> Forum). It is perfectly for a while now, but we would like to upgrade..

Step 1: We are going from DotNetNuke version 2.1.2 to 4.9.0.
Step 2: Then, we would like to continu using YAF4DDN and we would like to upgrade from 0.9.8 to the YAF forum 1.9.1. with retaining the data!

First: Is it possilble?

Does anyone have any experience with this?
How about the data model, maybe it is the same?

The summery: How 2 do to YAF upgrade?

Many thanks!

I an assure you the DNN upgrade won't be friendly. Your running a very old version (running on .net 1.0/1.1) and you'll be moving to a 2.0/3.5 upgrade.

As far as my suggestions go, you will definatly need to setup a test environment. First step is successfully upgrading DNN. Should you be able to do this successfully. Just install the latest YAF forum, goto the /install directory in your browser and YAF should update. Not 100% sure if all your data will be the same as I wasn't a YAF user with the older versions, but give it a test in a test world.

I think your bigger hurdle will be DNN.

My suggestion is similar -- just do a backup of the db and try an upgrade. Honestly, v0.9.8 was before my time -- I don't even have an old database to test anymore. v1.9.1 works well in DNN, though.
