I am testing 1.9.3 with one category and one forum:
Guest Users access mask is: No Access to the one forum.
Forum is marked 'Hide if No Access'...
When viewing the forum as a Guest, the forum does not appear, but the category still displays.
I have ver. 1.9.1.8 installed on a separate machine and when hiding all Forums within a category, the category itself is hidden.

If I'm not mistaken, there must be at least one category displayed. Try adding a second category with a accessible forum for guest. The first category should then disappear. .....the man in black fled across the desert..........and the gunslinger followed.....

Added a second category with one forum under it. This forum has read-only access for Guests.
The second category and forum display properly when viewing as a Guest.
The first category still shows up with no forums below it.

double checked...
I'm using the default Masks for Admin and Guest...
Admin Access has everything enabled, No Access has everything disabled..
Forums are set as follows:
Access:
Administrators - Admin Access
Guests - No Access
Forum is set to Hide if No Access
Guest user still sees the Category, but the Forums are properly hidden.
Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?
