Hi all,

I am currently running a DNN 4.8.4 site and am trying to get YAF 1.9.1.x to work on it, but I am having a few problems.

I have downloaded the following file: Version 1.9.1.x Module and installed it to the following location on my site: backupsite/DesktopModules/YetAnotherForumDotNet.

I have added the following lines in my web.config file in the root of my site as per the instructions:
Code:

</sectionGroup>
    <section name="yafnet" type="yaf.SectionHandler,yaf" />
  </configSections>
  <yafnet configSource="dnnyafnet.config"/>

I have also modified the dnnyafnet.config file as follows:

Code:

<yafnet>
    <connstr>user id=****;pwd=****;data source=(local);initial catalog=yafnet;timeout=90</connstr>
    <uploaddir>~/upload/</uploaddir>
    <!-- Enable URL Rewriting is NOT available with DNN -->
    <enableurlrewriting>false</enableurlrewriting>
</yafnet>

replacing the **** with the id and pwd for the sites main DB

Now when I kick off the setup process I get to step Step 2 of 5: Connect to database and then I get the following error

Quote:
Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I know it says I need a SQL database, do I need to create a new one and does it have to be a MSSQL database or can you use a MYSQL database? Also if I want to run 2 YAF forums on my site will I have to have 2 seperate database's for them?

Please can someone assist, I have gone over and over the instructions that came with the YAF files but these are not helping and the YAF Wiki does not seem to offer any instructions I can understand.

Thanks in Advance

Well I have figured it out and got my forums up and running, I have also found out that it is notpossible to use MySQL for this. It's a shame as the majority of people wanting to use this will probably want to use MySQL as it is free Laughing

Ah well. Off to fine tweak the form and see how it all works etc.
