The PM function used in Active Forums is actually an addon of Scott McCulloch (www.ventrian.com) and is being accessed from Active Forums by templating functionality.

I found this blog of Shaun Walker on the DNN site.

http://www.dotnetnuke.co...ntryID/506/Default.aspx

It looks to me that they have incorporated the membership/roles/user provider since dnn 436. In the past i have tried YAF with DNN 434 and i needed to manually add my users in YAF. Now i'm running it on DNN 440 and at once i didn't need to do this anymore. Hopefully this opens up some posibilies to use the dnn roles in YAF for DNN.

Regards,
Marc

Yup its definately there, don't think it'll be an issue but then the proof is in the pudding Smile

When I post FP:Mek in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Ederon Smile )

If you want me to "taste" Cheesy Grin something (when the moment is there, of course) just let me know.

I'm pretty sure you'll make a lot of people sweat!! Commercial vendors and DNN-core!

Cheers!!!

hehe the next release is aimed to be a CTP (Community Technology Preview), so plenty of opportunity to test in that albeit not in a production environment Smile
However we do have lots of work still to get done.

Hi there,

Were you able to look at the possible integration with dnn roles?

In the meanwhile the dnn core forum developpers have been working hard. They are closing in on releasing a new forum for dnn. You can find their beta site on this here: http://forums.crispy.us

Regards,

Marc

I like the threaded format because I want to use the forums to hold meetings. I like to see the structure of the conversation, whose talking to whom or what is someone responding to. I'm glad the flat or "normal" view is available also for times when I just want to read every post in series.

I would prefer there not be so much separation between the thread links and the currently viewed post. Is it possible to place the thread links window to the left of the currently viewed post? I think I saw this on MSDN forums. Thanks.

Hi,

Were you able to find time to integrate the dnn roles into YAF. I will say it again: that certainly would make it a killer app!!

Thanks,
Marc

I posted this on the Source Forge site as directed in the Feature Request forum, but will put it here as well. I thought it might be useful to implement SAML 2.x federation for Single Sign On so that those who frequent a lot of forums and blogs could utilize SSO capability rather than have to remember a bunch of logins for each one.

This would probably have to be implemented as a ASP.NET provider... Or at least an option to the existing YAF providers.

Thoughts?

Hi,
I've noticed that YAF has an excellent localization model compared to many other free .net applications.

I would like to be able to link to different language versions of a forum.
For example by switching the UI language via an URL parameter for guest users.

Example: forums.test.org/?lang=english

See this post: http://forum.yetanotherf...etting-UI-language.aspx

regards,
Pom

In YAF error last handling placed in several places: in mail thread, in page_onerror and may be else where. In my projects i use application event for error handling - in global.asax or in direct class definition. May be it will be usefull.

I just want to cast my vote for role and user integration with DNN. As soon as that is available I will be integrating it into our company site.
