YAF v1.9.0 FINAL (Dated 10/10/2006)

This release will be uploaded to SourceForge. There are important changes to the English language file. Other language files will need to be updated -- please give back to the community any changes you make to a language file.

Change Log:

  • Fixed issues with Swedish language file.
  • Fixed error with "Active Discussions" no showing anything
  • Modified default.config to use new uploaddir "upload/" instead of "/upload/"
  • Modified Config class to look more like v1.9.3 for easier merging. (Code is more readable)
  • Fixed issue deleting Forums. Now a forum delete wipes the database of all topics, messages and attachments associated with that forum.
  • Fixed issue with BBCode editor and FireFox -- inserting BBCode make the editor jump to the top.
  • Fixed XSS Security issue with the IMG BBCode.
  • ASPNET theme modified by Boskone
  • Added scrollable "overflow" CSS setting for posts. Only works on FireFox.
  • Adjusted Sponsorship post layout and removed all "personal" information. No more PM or Email links.
  • Fixed issue with points not being added for posts.
  • Fixed issue with PM e-mail links not working if you need to login.
  • Fixed issue selecting avatar
  • Added avatar editing page (removed avatar stuff from edit profile) with simplified functionality.
  • Modified Points Implementation slightly
  • Updated Admin User editor to support new Avatar editor with improvements (select avatar didn't work before)

The database has changed! You will need to upgrade your database using the following after installing by visiting this YAF URL: /install/default.aspx

ALWAYS SUGGESTED THAT YOU BACKUP YOUR DATABASE BEFORE ATTEMPTING AN UPGRADE

After installation and setup it's suggested that you remove or rename your /install/ directory for security reasons. (This issue will be fixed in future versions.)

Since this is a .NET v2.0 version make sure to take a look at default.config and merge changes with your web.config.

This release does not implement .NET v2.0 membership & roles. We're currently working on v1.9.3 which is an upgrade from v1.9.2 and includes the changes made in v1.9.0. (It's available in the CVS.)

BIN: Includes the compiled forum and forum page files without the source.
SRC: Includes the compiled forum and forum page files with full source.
DNN: Includes the compiled forum and forum page files with DNN v4.x support module and definition.

    YAF-v1.9.0-FINAL-BIN.zip (1426kb)

Help is always appreciated. I will be adding a "contribute" section to the YAF site very soon here that will talk about how you can help.

Jaben - Do you have any suggestions for how to modify my own implementation of 1.90RC2 to use the fixes of 1.90 final? I've made extensive changes but I want to be consistent with the most recent release. Is there a log of what was changed (by class/method/anything)?
Check out my implementation of YAF: http://Forums.LearnSqlServer.com/. You can also check out my SQL Server 2005 tutorials at http://www.LearnSqlServer.com/ and my C# tutorials at http://www.LearnCSharp.com/

When .NET v2.0 membership & roles are implemented, will that allow easy integration into a site that already uses .Net 2 membership? i.e. add a few extra properties to the existing user profiles for use in the forum section.

BigToga: The suggestion for modifying is to do compare/merge (using WinMerge) on all the sources. WinMerge does a good job and you should be underway pretty quickly.

SQL merging is another thing... there are plenty of programs out there for this task... can't suggest a free one though.

I already asked this question in another thread (http://forum.yetanotherforum.net/default.aspx?g=posts&t=3318&find=unread). Can you give an estimate when ASP.NET Membership will be integrated. I like your forum implementation. I feels very responsive and fast. Congratulations!
