Is there a way to set 'watch this forum' as a default option for registered users when creating a forum, so that the forum will automatically be in their 'Watched Forums' category?

If not, can an administrator set this option (watch this forum) automatically to all users or to a particular role?

Thank you.

No its not possible its only possible to set the "Default Notification Setting" (in Board Settings) to

- Turn off notifications
- Notification for topics you've posted to, watched or marked as favorite
- Notification for topics or forums you've selectively watched

The second option is an auto watch option. If you post in a topic you get automatically subcribed to it. Also the user can subcribe manually to a topic or forum.

The third option, allows the user to subcribe to forums and topics, you can see the full list of watched topics and forums in your profil under Email notification Preferences.

I'd agree with this feature. It is very convenient to make some announcements on the special sub-forum and make the subscribers read them as soon as they login, and only in case if they didn't read them. This feature should be added as optional so the admin will be able to enable/disable it. The forum to show should be selected using the DD list.

Say, I setup a special sub-forum to make some announcements and the users didn't see it. Then all the users will be redirected to the latest (individually!) unread message of this sub-forum on the next login. it will make them read it. Say, we changed some rules, got some updates, or we're going to set the forum off-line for a few hours on some date for backup and upgrade purposes...

How that sounds? 🙂
